New York City has hundreds of Thai restaurants. I'm going to try them all--using sheer will power and an addiction to curry. Follow my quest here!

why thai?

Once upon a time, long ago (before college!), I was prematurely introduced to authentic Thai food and was thoroughly "grossed out" (as my 15-year-old self would have said). Years later, I discovered the amazing reality of Thai food while going to school in a college town with just about three Thai places. I'm finally up in the big city and my appetite for Thai has only grown along with the number of places to choose from! So now I've decided to try as many places as possible, and report back to you here about what I find.

Some questions you might be having are:

Aren't you vegetarian? Yes I am. However, like many non-American cuisines, Thai food is excellent for people who don't eat meat and double excellent for people (like me) who really love themselves some good tofu. So while I won't be sampling any meat dishes, I WILL be giving you the inside scoop on how veggie-friendly each place is, and that's something you can't find just anywhere.

Are you going to eat the same dish every time? Well, probably not, but I am known to stick with 2-3 standard favorite dishes, so you can bet that at any given place I'll be trying either the Pad See Ew, the Yellow (or sometimes Green) Curry, or occasionally the noodle-and-curry combo (whatever that's called).

How the heck are you going to manage (afford!) to eat out at all these places? Not quite sure yet. But I'll let you know. The first step is listing all the ones I've been to so far. Then we'll go from there.

What will you be rating places on? My reviews will mostly be narratives but will include insight on the decor, pricing, service, taste, value, portion size, cuteness of waitstaff, etc. Not sure yet what else, but the general philosophy is anything goes! Then I'll give them an overall score from 1-10 (decimals will probably be allowed).

If I know of a good place for you to check out, do you take recommendations? Absolutely! Right now I'm focusing on Manhattan and Brooklyn, so those suggestions are especially welcome, but all tips are great and I'd love to have them.

If you have other questions, put them in the comments!
